Friends of Douglass Hall v. Town of Atherton (1994) San Mateo County Superior Court

An injunction was secured by the Friends of Douglass Hall to stop the imminent demolition of Douglass Hall at the Menlo School and College. The Court later issued a writ ordering the demolition approval to be set aside because the EIR that had been prepared was without adequate assessment of rehabilitation alternatives using the State Historic Building Code and the record provided no factual support for findings that "the existing structure would not feasibly support the School's educational mission or that the School could not raise money for a ... safe reconstruction."

The School instead rehabilitated Douglass Hall, now Stent Family Hall, as a centerpiece of campus life.
