Case

The San Buenaventura Conservancy filed a CEQA mandamus action against the City of Ventura for approving demolition of the historic Willett Ranch. The Conservancy alleged that the loss of the citrus ranch buildings in conjunction with a housing project could not legally occur without preparation of an EIR to consider feasible alternatives. The case was settled with the City's approval of a revised project that allowed the housing project to go forward with the historic buildings relocated on the same site.
